Welcome to Listening Parties, the library’s online music discussion group!
Every month, Librarian Michael Farley presents a solo artist, a band, a time period or style. Active listening is the focus. What do you hear? What do you like, what does it mean to you? Tell us why! Sharing your thoughts is encouraged.
Expect to see a wide range of genres represented: pop, rock, jazz, classical, country or folk. Suggestions are welcome!
Discussion topics will be introduced by background material to help set the context, with biographical information, and how the artists fit into the history of music. Some songs will be highlighted as critical examples.
